Making Meaning: Marketing and the Media

  • Do you have a marketing plan for 2012?
  • Do you know your target market and customer base?
  • Are you making the most of your marketing opportunities?

With a new year, brings a spring clean for businesses and this year Wooler based Glendale PR & Communications are offering a free 2 hour marketing and media workshop at the Cheviot Centre on the 27th of January 2012  entitled Making Marketing and the Media work.

The workshop aims to share with small companies hints and tips on the best ways to make their business a success in a difficult climate.  It will include marketing tips, using the media to your best advantage and the ever important public relations.

The workshop will be take place from 2pm – 4pm and will be run by Barbara Huddart, Managing Director of Glendale PR & Communications.

As Barbara Huddart explains “Glendale as a company has helped many local small businesses become brand names in their specialist fields. We have always been keen to support local businesses and organisations and just want to offer a helping hand or a nudge in the right direction given the struggles posed by the current economic climate”.

Glendale PR and Communications have helped and supported a number of different businesses over the years. Our role is to work with other companies to help increase brand consciousness and help them gain a positive image and greater public awareness. These companies include Berwick WorkSpace, Doddington Dairy, The Glendale Agricultural Society, BEDMAX Shavings, Eshott Hall Hotel and Doxford Hall Hotel.

Barbara goes on to share her thoughts about the expansion of her own company “When I started my business over 15 years ago I was nervous as to whether I’d be able to make a go of it.  Like most small businesses much of the business is who you know. This is where PR becomes such an important component of a successful business. With the right marketing strategy and an awareness of public relations even the smallest of businesses have opportunities to grow and develop.”

Topics covered in the workshop will help companies implement systems and strategies for their own business and help them to better understand how they can independently employ marketing strategy and develop their own public relations. This includes discussions of the following.

  • What is marketing and why is it cost effective?
  • What is Public Relations?
  • The importance of knowing who your customers are and how they find out about you.
  • How to produce a marketing plan
  • Using the media to your advantage

For those who want to step into 2012 with an edge on last year it is a fantastic opportunity to gain free advice from an established and successful business who know how to make other businesses more successful.
