Goats Not Reindeers on the Roof!

There may not be Reindeer on the Roof but there will be Goats on the Roof at one of Northumberlandís most unusual Christmas Party venues. The restaurant near Rothbury, will be open for the festive season and while party goers tuck into their traditional turkey, the goats will tuck into their own grass on the roof.

The four course Christmas Party Menu priced at £20 per person is available at lunchtimes or evenings . (Evening bookings require a minimum of 15 people). As would be expected of a rare breed farm, the menu will feature delicious meats straight from the farm including Rough Garlicky Pork Terrine and Fontburn Sausage and Pork Stuffing Balls with the traditional turkey. Guest are invited to bring their own alcohol, no corkage will apply.

Goats on the Roof was launched earlier this year to draw attention to the importance of conserving our rare breed farm animals. The cafe is now famous around the world for its small herd of rare Bagot goats which happily live on its roof. Nina Remnant who runs the centre with husband Darren says this is the perfect setting for a traditional Christmas Party: ìOur setting is truly unique and we are offering what many people look for when booking a Christmas Party, great food, in great company in a great location. Starters:
Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil Salad.
Homemade Broth.
Served with Fontburn Rare Breeds free range ham, seasonal vegetables and barley.

Smoked Salmon Mousse.
Creamy salmon mousse wrapped in locally sourced salmon served on a bed of lettuce.

Rough Garlicky Pork Terrine.
Our homemade terrine made with Fontburn Rare Breed pork and seasoned with cornichons, our own piccalilli and toast.

Mains:
Roast Free Range Turkey.
Served with Fontburn sausage, pork stuffing balls, cranberry sauce and all the trimmings.

Roast rib of Dexter Beef, (£5 supplement).
Served with Yorkshire puddings and horseradish cream.

Mixed Mushroom Stroganoff.
Served on a bed of mustard and spring onion mash.

All served with Seasonal Vegetables.
Desserts:
Rich Christmas Pudding.
Our homemade pudding laden with fruit, alcohol and topped with brandy sauce.

Chocolate Tart
A decedent chocolate tart made with 70% Belgian chocolate and served with cream.

Lemon Posset.
A traditional lemon cream served with raspberries and shortbread biscuit.
