The Fenwick Flame

The Olympic Torch has been in flame for the past month as it continues its tour around the United Kingdom. However at the North East’s leading independent department store, it is both Flaming and Freezing.

In celebration of t he Olympic Torch passing down Northumberland Street on Friday 15th June  – Fenwick of Newcastle have made their very own and very local edible Fenwick Flame.

It is a one metre long ice cream cone made in the Fenwick Bakery by Senior Pâtissier, Tonaz Gensicki.  Filled with a dozen balls of Doddington Dairy’s Rip Roaring Raspberry Ice Cream and fiery popping candy it is believed to be the only Ice Cream Cone to celebrate the passing of the Olympic Torch.

Although this cone is not for sale, smaller hand made Fenwick Flames will be available from their stall on Northumberland Street during the Olympic Torch celebrations on Friday.

Commenting on this innovative idea, Rhys McKinnell Head of Catering said:

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate the London 2012 Olympic Games in a fun and creative way. “

Doddington Dairy, the leading independent producer of farm made ice cream in the North East, teamed up with Fenwick of Newcastle for the summer and have transformed an Ice Cream Cart with patriotic sporting colours to sell their ice cream from outside the store.
