A Battle of Glendale Intelligence
The Glendale Agricultural Society (GAS) have announced the date of the much-anticipated Quiz Night, to be held at the Tankerville Arms in Wooler on Tuesday 26th February. One of the key events of their winter calendar, the evening will be a test of intelligence and wit, with a fantastic range of coveted prizes to be won.
The quiz night is always exceptionally well supported, with up to 20 teams of four people battling it out for first place. Tickets are priced at £8.00 each, and a pie and pea supper will be served prior to the quiz at 7PM.
Returning for another year will be quiz master, Ronald Barber, who will be supplying an intense round of questions, covering topics such as general knowledge with unexpected twists and the much-anticipated picture and music rounds. For teams that draw at the top, tie breaker questions will be provided and for the losers, wooden spoons.
This annual competition is part of the diverse programme of events organised by The Glendale Agricultural Society and is one of the key events of the year. Commenting ahead of the evening, Rachael Tait, Secretary of the Glendale Agricultural Society, said:
“The Glendale Quiz Night is a night not to be missed. The ladies were at the forefront of last year’s winners, with ‘The Fashionistas’ winning a day for four at Kelso Ladies Day, and the atmosphere was fantastically tense until the very end.
For the runners up, there will be additional prizes on offer, including memberships of GAS and meals at the Tankerville Arms to name a few.”

This is always a sell-out event so I would highly recommend that teams enter early in advance, get plenty of practice in as it will certainly bring out the competitive side in everyone!

One of the many vital aims of the Glendale Agricultural Society is to share knowledge and promote farming and agriculture throughout the Glendale area and further afield. The largest event of the GAS, the Glendale Show, which takes place each August Bank Holiday, helps to raise awareness of rural life, showcasing livestock, producers and craftspeople. The Children’s Countryside Day, which is organised by the society, firmly focuses on the education of children throughout the region.
